Your front door is the first impression people have of your home and should be decorated in time for Christmas. The festive time of year usually means you’ll have plenty of visitors knocking on your door to drop off presents, pay you a last-minute visit before the big day or pop by to help prepare Christmas dinner.
Give unexpected and planned visitors a festive surprise on arrival by decorating your front door with a festive wreath or an elaborate red door bow. A Christmas wreath can be easily hung onto a door with a wreath hanger or a small nail. Remember to tie a festive ribbon around the wreath and onto the nail or wreath hangar to stop the wreath from blowing away if the weather gets stormy during the winter months.
Christmas door mats are another great way to add a touch of the holiday spirit to your doorway, so browse our online Christmas collection now and find something festive to wipe the snow from your feet.
If you and your family have been good this year, Father Christmas will no doubt be paying you a visit on Christmas Eve, so make sure to decorate your fireplace with Christmas decorations, Christmas stockings and, of course, a mince pie and glass of milk for Santa Clause and a carrot for Rudolph.
Warm light Christmas string lights are a beautiful way to enhance the look of your fireplace. For a traditional Christmas look, use pine cones, pillar candles and strings of holly to decorate the mantelpiece. If you have little ones or pets around, consider using faux pillar candles as they are much safer to use in a busy family home.
Whether your staircase is located in a hallway or in a living room or kitchen, it can be a fantastic place to hang festive decorations and Christmas lights and will make for a warm welcome when you return home from Christmas shopping.
Choosing a long garland is a great place to start and can be easily wrapped around the top railing of the staircase and secured with craft wire or festive red ribbon. Add pine cones to the garland for a rustic Christmas look or attach a selection of baubles to the garland using ribbon and finish with a string of beads in silver or gold. For a festive smell throughout your home, consider added cinnamon sticks to the garland and attach with ribbon or a couple of centimetres of craft wire. This can also be done with tinsel or Christmas string lights.
If you don’t have a fireplace in your home, the staircase is a perfect alternative to hang Christmas stockings from, ready to be filled with presents on Christmas Day.
