From Selfie Microphones to Car Simulators, Hoverboards and not forgetting Elf on the Shelf – the Toy Trends of 2018 Revealed

There is nothing more exciting than Christmas as a child. Creeping down the stairs at the crack of dawn on Christmas morning, eagerly checking to see what Santa has left behind. Once the gifts are unwrapped, it’s a busy morning of playing with and trying out your brand-new toys. Although this has been a tradition for many, many years, toy trends develop and change every year. Here are our predictions for some of the most popular toys for Christmas 2018!

Zinc A Smart Hoverboard – £199.99

We predict hoverboards will be an absolute must-have for older kids this year. Forget bikes and scooters, the hands-free hover board may take a bit of practice, but once they have the hang of it, they’ll be gliding around like nobody’s business. The Zinc A Smart can reach speeds of up to 8mph and, coming complete with sturdy rubber tyres, you can even glide uphill! Make getting out and about super fun, with the ultimate kid’s (and grown-up’s) present. It’s important to note that using hoverboards on UK roads or pavements is not legally allowed – so stick to hovering around on private property.

Simon Optix – £14.99

Virtual reality and games involving headsets have become huge in recent years and we predict that there’s hours of fun to be had with the Simon Optix gaming device by Hasbro. Involving quick thinking and multicoloured lights, this headset allows you to immerse yourself in the wonder of the game (and is also perfect for keeping the kids occupied for a while!). Complete with sensors, this truly addictive, clever game will take you through level after level, increasing in difficulty each time – how far can you get?

Superstar Selfie Microphone – £8.99

Treat your budding superstars with the fantastic selfie microphone – perfect for those little ones that absolutely love to perform! It’s no secret that selfie culture is huge so there’s no doubting how popular this toy is going to be this year! Simply set up the mic, fit your smartphone into the holder, turn on the selfie screen and watch your little one sing their heart out. Let the kids record themselves, take pictures and perform like a true little superstar!

Light n Sound Activity Pirate Ship – £24.99

Whilst your baby is perhaps a little young to enjoy the true magic of Christmas, it doesn’t mean there won’t be something to bring a touch of excitement to their little face. The great thing about the light n sound activity pirate ship is that it will not only bring hours of fun but can also help encourage your child’s development with endless interactive play. The bright colours and room for discovery make this an absolute Christmas winner!

Remote Controlled Driving Simulator – £12.99

Classic remote-controlled cars will always be a winning Christmas present, and Drive Rapid Control has taken the traditional toy to the next level with their remote-controlled driving simulator, complete with wheel to simulate a driving experience. A super cool present for super cool kids and definitely a popular choice this year.

Elf on the Shelf St. Bernard – £19.95

This might be more of a ‘buy-before-Christmas’ present but is a beautiful tale encouraging acts of kindness all the same. If you want something a little different to the Elf on the Shelf phenomenon, the St. Bernard addition comes complete with soft toy and tale of how the dog helps Santa on his present delivering duties! Taking Elf on the Shelf to the next level, and really celebrating the magic of Christmas, this could easily become an all-time Christmas favourite.
